Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Rickey overcame a challenging environment through sports, earning All-American honors in football and a four-year scholarship to Southern Methodist University. A four-year starter and All-Southwest Conference player, he was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 1984 and played six seasons in the NFL. After retiring, Rickey earned a Master of Divinity from Ashland Theological Seminary and went on to serve 20 years in pastoral ministry, including as Chaplain of the Baltimore Ravens. He speaks at NFL Chapel services, mentors former NFL players, and serves on the boards of Cornerstone Schools of Washington, D.C., and Ashland Theological Seminary. Married for 40 years with five children, Rickey travels internationally, sharing the love of Jesus and promoting racial reconciliation.
