Seven hundred years before Christ, Isaiah prophesies about the Messiah being a “precious cornerstone.” A cornerstone is the beginning point of a building. It’s the foundational stone upon which all other stones are aligned. Isaiah uses building imagery to describe Jesus this way because He is the foundation of the Church and of our salvation. But in addition, Christ-followers need to ask whether or not He is the cornerstone of every aspect of their lives. In other words, does everything in our lives “square” with Jesus as the Cornerstone, or is He simply only a small brick in the wall of our lives?
