The Bible encourages us to befriend unbelievers so that they might hear about Jesus and see Him in our lives, but the Bible also discourages us from forming partnerships, unions, or bonds with unbelievers. Paul warns us about this for two reasons: incompatibility and influence. Christians and non-Christians have different views, values, standards, and perspectives that will cause friction and strife within a partnership or union. In addition, the nonbeliever has the potential to influence the Believer in ways that might compromise him or her.
